From the Desk of Diane Mozzo, President—May 2017

May is here, and it is hard to believe the 2016-2017 Colony Club year is coming to a close. I believe we carried on the traditions spelled out in our objectives. We “…developed interest in cultural subjects…” through the varied programs set up by our second vice president, Joanne Staniec. We promoted “…civic and welfare work…” by participating in projects such as Welcome Night, the Halloween Parade, the Tree of Warmth, cookies for the First Responders, the Block Party, and by giving monetary grants to various nonprofits. We furthered “…social contact…” by supporting our members who have endured emotional and health issues this year, and by just enjoying the many friendships we have made. Finally, we invested in “…future generations through scholarship funding…” by holding several fundraisers—including our biggest event, the Fashion Show. I think we have had an interesting, productive, and fun year, and the board and I are ready to continue for the 2017-2018 along with your support and help. Thanks to all you wonderful Colony Club members!

Our April Fashion Show and boutique was a success. Tah Dah! provided beautiful clothes, and our models were perfection. We had lots of delicious food. We made close to $2900 for our Grants and Aid fund. Thanks go to Gerri Cusato for her leadership, to Jean Robinson for her ticket selling prowess, and to June Peterson for her imaginative and gorgeous centerpieces. Thanks also are extended to those who helped set up, clean up , and provide food. A special shout out goes to Jane Snyder, who made a last minute run to the grocery store for some extra goodies.

Achievement Day brought many awards to the club and to individuals. The Colony Club received certificates of merit in the categories of Leadership, the Special State Project: PCA-NJ, and Communications. Following is a list of members and their awards:

Congratulations to all who participated and thanks to Cathi Ferber and Angel Smith for coordinating.
