2016 – 2017
The volunteer members of the bylaw review committee—Phyllis Bonner, Linda Gronert, and Joanne Romano—reviewed the current Colony Club bylaws and submit the following changes for approval. The Colony Club Members received the proposed changes via email in April 2016 and again in May 2016. Those without email access were mailed copies.

Article II – OBJECTS
The objects of this Club, which shall be non-sectarian and non-partisan, shall be to create and develop interest in the cultural subjects, to promote civic and welfare work and to further social contact.
ARTICLE II – Change the word OBJECTS to read OBJECTIVES which is grammatically correct.
ARTICLE II – OBJECTIVES: Added ‘, and to invest in future generations through scholarship funding.’
Article V – MEMBERSHIP
Section 2. APPLICATION
b) The complete application, with dues, must be given to the Membership Chairman to present to the Executive Board for approval.

Section 3. RESIGNATIONS
b) Any member who has resigned in good standing may be reinstated by application to the Membership Chairman upon payment of the current year’s dues, said member having been accepted by the Executive Board.

Section 4. STATUS
a) Any member who wishes to retain her membership after moving 20 miles or more away, may obtain a non-resident membership upon application of such to the Membership Chairman who will notify said members of the Club of new status. Non-resident members may attend any meeting but are not entitled to a vote.

Article VI – OFFICERS
Section 1. The Officers of the Club shall be a President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Assistant Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
ARTICLE VI – OFFICERS, Section 1: Changed the title of Corresponding Secretary to Media Coordinator, the Assistant Corresponding Secretary to Assistant Media Coordinator and eliminated the position of Assistant Treasurer.
Section 2. PRESIDENT
a) The President shall preside at all meetings of the Club and Executive Board. She shall perform all duties pertaining to this office and such others as are prescribed in these Bylaws. She shall appoint special committees and shall be ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. Special meetings may be called by the President or by application of the members.

c) Expenses incurred by the newly elected First Vice President or the newly elected Second Vice President in attending the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs Convention, shall be paid with the Club funds.

Section 3. VICE PRESIDENTS
a) The First Vice President shall cooperate with the President and assist her in any work of the Club which she may delegate to her and perform such other duties as usually pertain to this office. The First Vice President (or member appointed by the President) shall be responsible for the production of the Membership Book (Directory) which shall be available to the members at the September General Club Meeting. The First Vice President, together with the Treasurer, shall order the Past Presidents pin in accordance with notes in the State Year Book.
Section 3: VICE PRESIDENTS: a) Deleted the entire second sentence beginning ‘The First Vice President (or member appointed….).’
Section 4. RECORDING SECRETARY
The Recording Secretary shall keep a record of the Club and of the Executive Board meetings. She shall perform other duties as usually pertain to this office.

Section 5. CORRESPONDING SECRETARY
The Corresponding Secretary shall conduct all the general correspondence of the Club. She shall be responsible for editing and distributing the newsletter and other notices.
Section 5: CORRESPONDING SECRETARY: Changed Title to MEDIA COORDINATOR. Deleted entire first sentence and added at the end of the second sentence ‘…, the member directory, maintaining the Club’s social media.’
Added: Section 6: ASSISTANT MEDIA COORDINATOR: The Assistant Media Coordinator shall be responsible for the general correspondence of the Club.
Section 7. ASSISTANT TREASURER
The Assistant Treasurer shall be responsible for all dues and arrears.
Section 7: ASSISTANT TREASURER: Position is eliminated.
Article IX – MEETINGS
Section 2. EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETINGS
The Executive Board shall hold regular monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month except July and December and at the discretion of the President.

The annual business meeting shall be held in May at which time reports for the year shall be filed.
