From the Desk of Jane Snyder, President
Happy Fall!! What an exciting month October is and continues to be!
I would like to thank all of our Colony Club members who recently supported the American Legion Auxiliary Fashion Show. We had such a great presence at their VERY successful event. They had 350 guests in attendance—including a majority of their own their members—and raised a whole lot of money. That’s right, a whole lot of $$$$$. I look at our own Colony Club and hope everyone will take up the reins and support all our events. Just look what support can produce! Bottom line, you would be supporting the Colony Club.
By now you have heard nothing but rave reviews about our Spaghetti Dinner/Elvis Show. Elvis was in the house! Many thanks to Bonnie Hyson & Sandy Crescenzo who—along with their committee—did an outstanding job of organizing this fun event. Change is good and inevitable. We now look forward to future events that spur even more members and guest involvement. Your participation can only produce positive results.
The Safe Kids Kit presented at the September General Members’ Meeting and assembled by Diane Mozzo on behalf of our Colony Club, was delivered to the Southern District Fall Conference held at the Women’s Club of Vineland’s Clubhouse. The safety items collected will be distributed to families who are not able to provide these items for themselves. Let’s hope our Colony Club Safe Kids Kit will make a difference. If we can save one life it is well worth the expense.
Our Welcome Back September meeting included an exciting kick off—we have a website! Visit colonyclubocnj.wordpress.com often. We are also linked on the NJSFWC website in the Clubs section—Southern. Thank you Joanne Romano, our Media Coordinator, for making this, as well as, our informative Newsletter possible.
At the September General Meeting members agreed to participate in the Annual OCNJ Halloween Parade which will be held on October 29th. CAPA volunteered to organize and chair our participation in this fun event. More details coming soon. Keep an ear out for what CAPA has in store. Get ready to be in the parade!! It will be BOO & FUN-FILLED! So, get your BOO on!
Get set for an exciting day. Philly Bill Culp of WIBG 94.3 has volunteered to once again be the Caller. Gather your friends and make sure you get your reservation for this event. Contact Bonnie Hyson. See flyer on page 5 of the October 2015 Newsletter. We need posters placed in local as well as off shore locations. Contact me for posters you can place. Ads are scheduled in our local papers. This is our major fund raiser for the year. Participate and, as our Federation President Jill Passeretti’s motto states, Volunteer From the Heart.
Thank you to Denise Szymanski for chairing the participation of the Colony Club in the 2015 Fall Ocean City Block Party. Members who (wo)manned our table passed out information regarding membership, the upcoming Designer Handbag BINGO, sold cookies and made $62.00. What a beautiful day to have been outside promoting our Colony Club. Great job to all who participated!
See you at our next general meeting—October 19th, 7:00 PM
